After obtaining a BA. Degree from Louisiana State University , Richard served four years in the United State Air Force as a Captain commanding a Titan II Nuclear Missile site in Tucson AZ with a Top Secret Clearance. After completing his service, he obtained a Juris Doctor degree from LSU Law Center in Baton Rouge.
After graduation his experience began as a construction attorney for Cameron-Brown Mortgage in Baton Rouge. Soon thereafter, he founded and led Professional Title of Louisiana which provided a full range of title services together with a civil law practice from 1976-2003. During that time, he managed and directed a legal staff of 25, including attorneys, paralegals and notaries. He has personally closed over 40,000 transactions together with handling successions, foreclosure actions, contested title issues and business counseling.
From 2003-2008, he was the Central Florida Regional Manager/Attorney for North American Title owned by the largest home builder in the USA, Lennar Builders. His offices were responsible for closing 150-200 residential and commercial transactions per month.
During the years 2009-2018, he represented various title companies in Florida as Regional Manager and Counsel conducting many seminars for Attorneys and Realtors.
Richard also served as a Claims Counsel for Fidelity National Title Insurance Group , analyzing and making coverage determinations for title claims in the Southern/Western USA. Claim evaluations included managing litigation and attending mediations.
Among his accomplishments, he founded and represented the Livingston Board of Realtors, handling ethics and conflicts of interest among members.
Richard became General Counsel for the Livingston Housing & Mortgage Finance Authority which required organizing community leaders and government officials to sell millions of dollars in revenue bonds with the assistance of E. F. Hutton for the generation of lower interest rates to finance home purchases and construction.
Together with several other attorneys, he also represented thousands of injured claimants in three class-action cases (Combustion Hazardous Waste Litigation, Dalkon Shield IUD Litigation and Dow Corning Breast Implant Litigation) , resulting in the settlements of millions of dollars in damages for his clients.
